Teams that Scare You

I'll start.....Syracuse is playing some great ball right now. They have a couple of bigs that can battle Cuz and Patterson. Wesley Johnson is extremely talented.

Purdue, also another tough team. can give a team fits.

Nobody scares me. If we play to our potential, we won't lose. There are several teams that can beat us, but they don't scare me. This young UK bunch scares me, and thrills me.

A team that concerns me a great deal - Vandy. Saw them last week in Columbia and although the Gamecocks are down two players, that won't be back, Vandy kept answering and tore them a new one quite easily.

They're big, can and do run, strong, deep and well coached. Two regular season games left if I'm not mistaken and a team that I don't look forward to meeting in the SEC.

I think UK is better, but this is the team that worries me most in the SEC.

I agree. One of several teams that could beat us. We never seem to shoot well in that "gym". But, as long as we play to our potential, we should have no problem. I will add that this game, and other away conference games is why I don't think we will go undefeated. Too many opportunities to have an off game against a good team.

I'm going to lay this out there for no other reason but to say it...

If the Cats don't play pretty well Tuesday in Columbia, the Gamecocks could win that game. Here's most likely scenario...

* Downey Is Ridiculous Again.
* Downey Gets Help From Raley-Ross and Baniulus.
* USC Bigs Hold Their Own.

Gamecocks have about a half of all-out hustle and full-court defense in them. If they can keep it close to the second half and Downey has and can score, look out.

Vandy killed them on the fast break off the press with fresh players and power inside. Downey went off but had no help and quality is not there after 7-8 player.

Not picking the Cocks, but expecting a tight game. Hope I'm wrong about it being tight.

SC's lack of depth will kill them. I expect an effort and intensity level similar to Saturday's. If we don't win by 20, I'll be surprised. This young team seems to understand what they've done, and where they are. I think they see this as their chance to show they deserve that #1 rank, and will be ready to do so.

All the media and fans down here are all saying, the Gamecocks have no reason to be on the same court as the Cats, however, there is no love for USC and no respect at all being given to them. They've played two tough games in the last five days, at Ole Miss and at Florida that should slow them down. Now here comes #1.

Horn wants this game and the Cocks back from last year remember the UK games.

This is a whole new UK team obviously. If they can regroup after the Florida devastation, and put a solid effort together with more than Downey in the scoring column, look out.

I think if I had to pick some teams that scare me it would definitely be the following:

@ Vanderbilt
@ Tennessee

If Miss State is at their house, they kinda scare me too. I haven't watched South Carolina enough to know how they play and how good they are so we'll see tomorrow. It's at their house too so I expect them to bring it on.

Vandy at Vandy always scares me. Anyone can get beat in that gym. USC doesn't scare me but Downey does. Hold him to <15 & we win.

Good point OBX. With Downey, the Gamecocks are pretty good. Without Downey or Downey with a really off game, they're by far the worst team in the SEC.

I'm the same with @ Vandy and @ UT. As far as tournament teams are concerned, Villanova and the Cuse are better than projected.

Another team not mentioned is Michigan St. Yes I know they play plowhorse b-ball but they have size, speed, depth and are extremely well coached. Kansas also worries me for the same reason and might be the most experienced team.
