Cal says Lamb looks like another 'Buckets'
Doron Lamb isn't the most highly touted of UK's incoming freshmen, but coach John Calipari likes what he's seen so far from the 6-foot-4 shooting guard.
Lamb was a four-star prospect in Scout.com's rankings, and though he was that service's fifth-ranked shooting guard in the Class of 2010, he's been overshadowed by better-known prospects Brandon Knight, Enes Kanter and Terrence Jones, all five-star players in the Scout.com rankings.
But during the Wildcats' practices in preparation for a trip to Canada that starts Aug.15, Lamb has shown what Calipari called “some Chris Douglas-ishness,” comparing the native New Yorker to Chris Douglas-Roberts, who played for Calipari at Memphis and now is a member of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.
“We used to call Chris ‘Buckets' because he just got buckets,” Calipari said. “You just looked and all of the sudden, he had buckets. This kid (Lamb) does it the same. He doesn't handle it quite as well. He's not quite as long. Probably shoots it better (as a) perimeter shooter than Chris did.”
