Former Cats Evans and Hawkins Seeking Championships

A pair of former Kentucky Wildcats are in the hunt for club championships in their respective leagues.

Former UK point guard Cliff Hawkins and his Trefl Sopot team have moved into the semifinal round in Poland's PLK league tournament.

Trefl Sopot wrapped up the quarterfinal series against PGE Turow with a surprising 75-68 road victory. The win gave them the series three games to one.

Hawkins had a nice run in the 4-game quarterfinal series. He averaged 14.8 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals. He was also 10-26 (38.5%) from beyond the 3-point line in the series.

Trefl Sopot will battle Asseco Prokom in the semifinal round that begins May 8. Asseco Prokom features PLK Player of the Year David Logan and former Duke Blue Devil Daniel Ewing.

In Portugal, ex-Cat Heshimu Evans and Benfica are one win away from advancing to the semifinal round of the LPB playoffs.

Evans and company have dominated AD Vagos in the first two games by scores for 108-58 and 101-78.

Evans has averaged 6.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in the first two games.

Good to see these guys doing well. Cliff Hawkins was one of my favorite UK players ever. I still don't see how his game didn't transfer over to the NBA.
