Could UK land two top point guards in the near future?

by Dustin Rumbaugh @ 11:50 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Lots of recruiting news flying around tonight. Here’s a look at what’s going on:

Brandon Knight: The Sun Sentinel reported today that Brandon will be announcing his college decision and signing a letter of intent this coming Wednesday at 4pm. All signs in this recruitment are pointing to UK being a heavy favorite, even maybe so much so that if he was to announce a decision to go elsewhere, it would be pretty shocking for the Big Blue faithful. It was reported earlier on the site that Cal is out west meeting with Terrence Jones at the Nike Hoop Summit but guess who else is there…Brandon Knight.

Marquis Teague: Over the past week there has been a major change in momentum in the Marquis Teague race. I think a lot of people would have said last week that Louisville was the leader and when Teague announced that he was planning to announce this weekend at the Boo Williams tournament, it looked all but lost for UK. Then Teague extends his decision to possibly the coming week and reports start to surface, starting with Evan Daniels, that UK may actually be in better shape than was once thought. Early news leaking from the Boo Williams tournament this weekend just keeps sounding better and better for the Cats and it is starting to look realistic that UK has at least as good of a chance as UL at landing another top point guard, this one for their 2011 class.

Josh Selby: Matt and I discussed earlier that we were both hearing some pretty non-UK related leanings from the Selby grapevine. In my opinion, Knight to UK would completely seal that deal…what’s that Eric Bledsoe and John Wall?….well maybe the deal wouldn’t completely be sealed but KU would be a pretty good place to ride your cash.

Doron Lamb: The feelings around Doron Lamb have long been that he would choose between UK or KU. His coach told reporters that right now it looks like UK and KU are leading, with WVU being the dark horse making a strong late push. Matt tweeted earlier that he is hearing some pretty good things about UK and Lamb. If Lamb were to join Knight at UK, that’s one hell of a back court.

Michael Gilchrist: An earlier report by Larry Vaught, citing sources, said that UK had welcomed Gilchrist onto campus yesterday and continuing into today. I’ve confirmed with a very good source that this is not the case and Gilchrist hasn’t been on campus at all. Spring recruiting rumors strike again…
