very good venison recipe
You will need about 3 pounds of stew meat, cubed in 1-2 inch pieces. I took a ham roast and cubed the meat from it. Any roast will work. Brown in a heavy skillet in half stick of butter, 1/4 cup of olive oil, a medium diced onion, and 2-3 cloves garlic minced. Stir on high until well browned. Add 3-4 tbsp paprika, mix well, and continue on high for 3 minutes or so. Reduce heat to simmer, add 2-3 beef bullion cubes, and 2 tbsp tomato paste. mix thoroughly, and cover. simmer for 2+ hours. At this point, I ate because I was hungry. The recipe called to remove the meat from the mix, and add some sour cream and simmer until the gravy thickened. I will probably do that next time. I threw this over some rice and it was great. I think I'll cook some egg noodles and serve it that way next time. it is really good. I love deer period, but if you have a loved one that isn't crazy about it, they'll like this. Very good. I got this from the last issue of Outdoor Life. Good luck in the woods!

Sounds good Cal and I'm with you. I love venison, its all in the butchering. Removing the siver strand, excess fat, and that slimey stuff. The only draw back is home much meat that is discarded. But hey if it tastes bad and they don't eat it, why kill it.
I'll try the recipe. It'll be a nice change of pace from my bacon wrapped marinated and grilled venison. (down to my last two bags)

My daughter and I love deer. My wife isn't crazy about it like we are, but she'll eat it. We have just about gone through all of the two we killed last year. Down to 2-3 roasts(I know what is going to happen to them), and about 10 pounds of ground venison. What do you marinate your's in for grilling? I've never found a marinade I really liked for deer. Don't try Dales. I love Dales on beef and chicken, but it sucks on deer in a big way.
