LEXINGTON, Ky. - Imagine everything a Kentucky Wildcats Fan would want to do in a lifetime. Now take those ideas, write them down and formulate a list. What do you have?
A Big Blue Bucket List.
In an effort to interact with the Big Blue Nation and become the No. 1 Facebook page in college athletics, UK is launching the Big Blue Bucket List campaign on Facebook, a social interaction program that will include weekly and monthly prizes in addition to a grand prize season pass to any and all athletic events.
"Kentucky fans are the best in the nation," UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart said. "This is a great opportunity to reward our fans for their loyalty and passion for the Wildcats. I want to give our fans a closer look inside our programs and this is one way we can begin to do that."
Starting Sept. 2 with the announcement of the grand prize winner, special access to every UK athletic event for the 2010-11 academic year for the grand prize winner and a guest, Kentucky will give away weekly and monthly prizes through its official Facebook fan page, "Kentucky Wildcats."
Prizes will include everything from free Kentucky gear, to a sport-specific game-day experience, to lunch with Barnhart, a round of golf with some of UK's coaches at the University Club, and everything in between.
Beginning Aug. 16 with the initial grand prize Facebook post, Kentucky will post a reminder of each weekly prize. To win a prize, fans must "like" the Kentucky Wildcats fan page and either post a comment or click "like" on the weekly or monthly bucket list post. Winners will be selected at random by the UK Athletics Department.
UK's Facebook fan page provides fans with recent news, links and the chance to network with other Wildcat fans and Facebook friends. The page features a "wall" for fans to post comments, pictures, videos and even a Kentucky football GAM3DAY Ready game. Kentucky currently boasts the second-most Facebook fans in college athletics with more than 170,000 fans, second only to Ohio State.
Fans and media can join the Facebook page by clicking on the link above or by logging on to www.Facebook.com and typing in "Kentucky Wildcats" into the search engine. Fans and media must have a Facebook account to join.
Facebook is a social networking website that is organized by city, workplace and region to connect and help users interact with other people.
There are many Facebook fan pages and groups dedicated to following the Kentucky Wildcats, but the one listed above is the only Facebook entity that is officially sanctioned by the University of Kentucky Athletics Department.
