turkey season starts with a bang

Took a friend's 10 year old this morning and he got his first bird! Called in 3 and he shot this one at 6:10. Very good bird. 19.5 pounds, 1 inch spurs, and a double beard. 11.5 and 8.5 inches. The main beard was thick.

We have a ton of wild turkeys around here..and not the kind you drink!..lol..i didn't realize how pretty turkeys were..Did daddy got one big one he shot stuffed..lotta colors..

Took his older brother this morning and we doubled up on 23 pounders. They were both heavier than the first bird, but the beards weren't as long. About the same spurs.

Do yall eat the turkey meat? It's soooo good!

Oh yes! It is very delicious, and I eat it often.

Dad got a 22 pound 2 year old bird this morning. I expected to get my second bird this weekend, but the forecast is not good. Will be a challenge to score number 2.

Got bird # 2 this morning, and it was a hoss. 25+ pounds, 11.25 inch beard, and 1.5 inch hooks. Probably my best scoring bird ever. It had it all. Two more weekends of hunting left, and several friends with tags to fill. More fun ahead.
