Cal Expects Cousins To Stay At UK

Call it a game of Liar's Poker.

Call it anything you want, but Cal isn't the first to say that NBA scouts and executives lie when talking about college talent. They often say bad things about a player, because they really want them.

Since most True Blue fans expect both John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins to leave after this season for the big bucks of the NBA, and Cal talks to NBA executives all the time, where do the top two freshman stand?

So, LEX18 Sports asked Cal if he expected DeMarcus Cousins to be drafted high.

"I think he's going to come back," says Cal. "He wants to come back."

Do you think John will be drafted high?

"I think he could be. He tells me he wants to come back. I don't know. We'll have to talk when this is over. These guys, I don't know if I want to coach them another year."

Tough sacrifice?

"Alright, let me go to practice."

That made the media laugh as Cal walked away.

So, it's a wait and see game with the top two freshman Cats.

Even tho it's a far fetched thing to have happen, coul you imagine if Cuz and Wall came back. Then seeing this Pat decides to give it one more year. Then add a couple recruits and, oh my.

Next year could be more fun if all 3 or 2 of the 3 stay put. Cousins I think should stay just to work on his maturation process. He's gotten better about it, but I think another year would be better for him.

As a fan, of course I want these guys to come back. Hell three more years would be awesome. But in my mind, if these guys are projected as lottery picks, and if they go 1 and 3 like some are saying, they HAVE to go pro. One slip up in a game can lead to some kind of injury that ruins your draft stock. If these guys are healthy at year's end, I think their choice has already been made.

In a perfect world both Cuz & Wall would be back but I hghly doubt if either one & Patterson are back next year, Bledsoe could be gone too.

I would be shocked if Bledsoe goes. As for Cuz P-Pat and Wall its just what they want to do and I couldn't fault them for either decision.

Wall,Cousins, Patterson will be gone, If they stayed that would shock me big time, I think Cal will push them out the door even tho he would love to have them back, he is looking out for their future.

I think if the cats make a deep run & fall a little short, you might be surprised. It happened with UNC a couple of years ago. I think they will all be gone as well,or 2 to 3 of them, but these guys want to win it all, especially Patterson
