Done deal?
by Thomas Beisner @ 2:50 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

It appears that the public courtship of Oregon assistant Kenny Payne over the weekend might have finally worked as FoxSports.com’s Jeff Goodman reports that it’s “basically a done deal” for Kenny Payne to become UK’s new assistant coach, replacing Rod Strickland. Interestingly, Goodman also notes that Payne will take less than the $324k he was set to earn with the Ducks to come to Lexington.

Not to russel any feathers, but does anyone think Cal is bringing Payne in to take the head coaching position so he can jump the the NBA?

Yeah, I don't think so either. Just wondered everyone else's opinion.

Payne is a great recruiter but not a head coach.

not a chance. Cal will be in Lexington at least until his son graduates, IMHO.

Cal will take another NBA job in the future. Anyone who believes he is going to retire at Kentucky is going to be in for a disappointment.

However, Cal won't go anywhere until he wins a title. He's had some great teams not win titles (96 UMASS, 08 Memphis, and us last year).

He'll want to get over the hump before he bolts again.
