Calipari considering lineup to get Wiltjer minutes

Coach John Calipari said F Kyle Wiltjer (5.6 ppg in 13 mpg) deserves more minutes. “Kyle's been playing so much better defensively and rebounding,” Calipari said. The challenge: he's stuck behind F Anthony Davis and F Terrence Jones. Calipari said he's thinking of experimenting with a lineup that includes all three.

I agree that Kyle deserves more minutes but better do it now in the SEC tourney to see how well it works.
Problem I see is who you going to sit? You have to have Gilchrist on the court which would leave out Lamb or Teague.

Seems like it would be tough to have all three of them out there at once.

If we are up by 8 or 10 I would sit Davis to keep him fresh, Don't sit him forever but enough to get a breather, It could help him stay out of foul trouble also.

I would like to the experiment to occur when Lamb or Teague is on the bench. Move my man, Darius, to the 2 spot and play KW with Jones and Davis. I hope he doesn't experiement too much. As much as I love KW, I hate to see him mess with a good thing very much.

This makes me nervous. Since Cal hates conference tourneys now is the best (maybe only) time to try it. If Teague reverts back to Turnover Man during a game, then he could put Wiltjer in there and Lamb at the point.

I've changed my mind. Can someone educate me on how Wiltjer is an asset in any way? Every time I see him on the floor he gets pushed around, can't rebound or defend, drives to the basket horribly. I get it he's a good shooter, but if he can't get his shot, I see no reason for him to be out there other than to give someone a break. I wanna know what people see in him so maybe I can see it too.

I think Cal is trying to see if any player off the bench is going to step up at this time of the year. Crazy things happen in the tournament. He knows what he is doing.

Well Cuse and Jaybirds went down. A part of me wishes Kentucky would lose to wake them up a bit. We just don't come out and play every game like I think they should this time of the year. Of course we did win and they(Cuse/Kansas) lost so maybe I'm being overly critical but a late season loss is usually a good motivator going into the dance.
Hopefully Cal can keep them focused. UNC looked really good yesterday. Wouldn't surprise me to see Duke go down today.
