Re: Wow that was amazing
Just Got Back From Columbia And Working The Game. Couple of Observations and Things I Saw....
* If You've Ever Been To a NASCAR Race, You Know How Fast The Cars Go Compared to What You See On TV. That Was My Impression Of The Cats Tonight. They Are Good On TV. In Person Tonight For The First Time, Sitting On The Floor, With Two Monitors In Front Of Me For Instant Replay, This Team Is Big, Physical And Perhaps The Best Defensive Team That I've Ever Seen. Very Impressive!!!
* Of The 17,000 Attendance, I Would Think That There Were 13,000 Big Blue Fans In Attendance. Quite Embarrassing For Gamecock Fans. Big Alumni Groups From SC and NC Converged On Columbia. Cal And Players Said They Were Used To Seeing a Third Of Arenas Filled With Big Blue Fans, But Tonight Was Ridiculous. Said It Was Like a Home Game.
* Davis - Awesome Player. UK's Staff Had Him With 7 Blocks When ESPN Announced It Was Eight And He Had The Record. ESPN Was Given The Information From USC's Stats People And Since They Were Official, The Record Was Broken Tonight Officially. He Was Close To a Triple Double And Cal Said He Put Him Back In The Game For a Few Minutes To Get That Recognition. But After The Near Injury, He Pulled Him Quickly.
* Jones Can Be a Beast When He Wants To Be And He Was Tonight.
* Kidd Gilchrist Impressive In His Own Right.
* Teague Had a Solid Game And Didn't Have To Score Much.
* Lamb - Solid Effort Although Cal Was On His Butt a Few Times On Defensive Breakdowns. On One Occasion, He Got Pulled From The Game And Cal Asked Him, "What Happened?"
* Sat In On The Post-Game Presser With Cal, Jones and Davis. They Said That It Didn't Matter Who They Played Tonight, There Was Going To Be a 30-Point Win, Just Happened To Be South Carolina Tonight. Cal Said This Was The Best They Have Played Collectively All Season. Very Happy With Lack Of Selfishness And All The Offensive Weapons That Were Working Tonight. When Asked About Kidd Gilchrist Changing His Name To Man-Gilchrist As ESPN Was Saying, Cal Laughed And Said That He Just Wants Michael To Be Smiling. Says He's a Wonderful Weapon That No One Else In The Country Has.
Two Final Personal Thoughts... Gamecocks Came Into Tonight After Playing a Late Game At Florida On Thursday Night, And Although Losing, Played Well In The Second Half. Probably Got Home About 3 a.m. So There's No Doubt The Team Was Not At Its Best. And Finally, After This AWESOME Performance Tonight, Hope The Cats Can Play As Big And Have No Letdown This Week Against Florida.

If this team continues to play like it has the last three games, I do not see anybody beating us. The thing we have to remember though is that this is a young team, and it would be easy to have a let down in one game, and that could be deadly if that happens in the tournament. GO CATS
