Available Coaches
Well now that we can all agree the Cats are absolutely Horrible and that Joker is not Head Coach Material, it's time to take a look at who is out there without a current job.
1) Urban Meyer: Sexy Swimsuit Model but we got no chance, move on.
2) Jon Gruden: Sexy Swimsuit Model but we got no chance, move on.
3) Jim Tressell: Only because he's available but no way we hire him.
4) Rich Rodriguez: Fell flat on his face at Michigan but built W VA into a power.
5) Mike Leach: Wide open offense & his D was slowly getting better at Texas Tech.
I vote for Leach, with Patrick Towles coming in next year, he can groom him into our next star QB and give us a fighting chance to attract receivers who can actually catch the damn ball. Our D needs fixing but it has always sucked so at least lets get the O going so we have a chance to win some shootouts.

Re: Available Coaches
UK has crapped the bed when it comes to their football coach so many times...do you know what the difference between UK and South Carolina is? They had the balls to go after Spurrier. You guys assumed he wouldn't be interested in a job like UK so you didn't bother asking. I say you put some heat on the admin to bust open the piggy bank and offer a Brinks truck full of cash to Meyer or Gruden or Dungy or whoever. It's time to quit with the inferiority complex and act like an SEC football program.

I think we would have a chance with Leach, but the others would probably laugh at us.

I agree, let's shoot for the moon. All they can say is no, they can't eat us. Let's shoot for the best coach out there, and let's actually spend some money on our football program. We need to do whatever it takes (legally) to build a winning football program. We as fans can accept nothing less.

This is what I've been saying for a long, long time. A lot of folks decided to settle with Rich Brooks and what he did, which he did do good things by getting some bowl games but it's been time to look to the future for at least 3-4 years and to go from bowl games to a downward spiral decline like we're seeing now, the football program needs to wake up and get crackin'

Re: Available Coaches
UK would be a good gig for somebody. You're in the SEC. That makes you one of the top 25 jobs in the nation automatically. Don't go coach shopping with your hat in your hand. Do it like you do when the hoops job is open. Go after Billy Donovan while he's in the middle of a National Title run. There is no reason why UK can't at least make Meyer an offer. Or go after Mark Richt if UGA doesn't want him.

Re: Available Coaches
While I would love to see them spend some big coin and get a big name coach, I just don't see it happening. I don't think any quality coach would risk ruining his career at UK. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear I'm right.

Re: Available Coaches
A big time coach thinks he can win anywhere. It all depends on if the money is right. Look at Spurrier. I'm sure many of his friends told him not to go to South Carolina. They probably told him that it was a dead end. And it took him a long time to get them going. But look at them now.

Re: Available Coaches
Tennessee and Georgia for example, are less likely to get a big time coach then UK because of the fan expectations. A fan base that thinks they should win the title every year at a school that is not that good, is a trap. But UK fans don't expect to win the BCS every year. They would be tickled pink with a Chick Fil A Bowl. So if a coach like Meyer or Gruden came in and took UK to the Cap One Bowl, he's a hero. That makes it an attractive job.

Re: Available Coaches
Gruden and Cower won't come, if they aren't going to coach in the NFL they aren't going to come to uk, I can see us getting Leach since he was offensive coordinator under Mumme , and UK set some records that year, remember the Air Raid? It was exciting to watch. I read he loved Lexington. He would be my first choice for sure.
Re: Available Coaches
Maybe UK will follow Arizona's lead and make a move. Stoops is out.

Re: Available Coaches
What about going after Stoops? I think some pressure should be put on our idiot AD. Ol' Barnhart will not make a move mid-season, he doesn't have the nads. Joker is not a good head coach. Actually, the last few years as an Offensive Coordinator were not good at all for him before being named head coach. He needs to go. I agree that we should go after a big name coach. Ask them all. We are in the SEC and with Texas A&M and Missouri (possibly) coming in it is a hot ticket. Leech just did an interview with a local Lex tv station and he does look interested.

Re: Available Coaches
Coaches have monster egos. UK is a great challenge for anyone who believes they can win anywhere. Like everyone else, I'd like to see them go for broke. Really what is there to lose? If I lived three minutes from Commonwealth, I wouldn't waste the gas or ticket money to go to a game.

All I've got to say is keep wishing. The Joke will be at the helm next year.
UNLESS with all the conference shaking, UK feels a little heat.
Football is king my friends and UK needs to make sure we have a real team.

According to the media, Myer is off the table.
I hate to see him go to OSU. I've always kinda liked him and I hate Ohio State.

Re: Available Coaches
Lot of talk in Charlotte that North Carolina has already hired Chris Peterson of Boise State. Now that's a lot of baby blue blood talking like usual, but this story seems to have some legs. is going to be very interesting. And for the record, Kentucky has just as much going for it as North Carolina for the football program and no NCAA issues like the Tar Holes do at the time.
