Kentucky freshmen Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones and junior DeAndre Liggins have declared for the NBA draft, the school announced on Wednesday.
None of the three have hired an agent or announced plans to do so, leaving open the possibility they could return to Kentucky after testing the waters.
Kentucky reached the Final Four this past season, losing to eventual champions Connecticut in the national semifinal.
Knight, a 6-foot-3 guard, led Kentucky in scoring, setting the program's freshman scoring record with 657 points, and was named most outstanding player in the NCAA East Regional.
"Playing in the NBA has always been a dream of mine and this is the next step," Knight said in a statement released by the school. "All season long coach [John Calipari] has been tutoring me on the fine points of being a point guard, and now I have an opportunity to put my game on display in front of NBA scouts as a result of my hard work."

Smart move on all three's part. Of course I'd like to see all of them come back, but I highly doubt Jones or Knight will return.

While they're good players and decent people, they're stupid for going. I feel they are not NBA ready at all. Liggins can't make a layup without it bouncing off the backboard or getting swatted, Jones has some serious maturity issues that I'd go out on a limb and call slightly worse than Cousins' issues or on par at the least, and Knight while may be ready physically is no way ready mentally. He showed why he was a freshman at times and got beat in the mental aspect of the game alot in my mind this year. Go ahead and test the waters all you want you 3, but best of luck to you all.
I would like to point out, I'm not bashing these 3 at all, I thank them for their service at UK, but, just expressing my opinion on their readiness to go at it with a bunch of pros that are bigger and faster than them thats all. I am just saying I think they'd benefit for having another year under their belts for their sake.

I'll have to disagree. Knight is better than some guards in the NBA right now. There's nothing wrong with his mental maturity.

I think all 3 will do fine in the NBA, Knight is a smart kid and can shoot, Jones is a great rebounder and will improve, Liggins can play defense and that's what a lot teams would like. Hell Orton barely played and he is in.

I think we'll see liggins back.

Quite honestly, how many of these underclassmen that are projected 1st round picks really "NBA ready"? Maybe one, two? Draft picks are largely based on potential anymore, and this paired with the one-and-done rule is by far the #1 reason why the NBA hardly has any glamor anymore...
I'm not sure what all these people saying it's all about the over-expansion of the league...
