* - The SEC has a conference-best six teams ranked in this week’s Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls. Alabama continues its top ranking in both polls while Auburn is 8th in both polls. Arkansas is 11th in AP and 13th in USA Today, LSU is 12th in AP and 9th in USA Today, Florida is 14th in AP and 12th in USA Today and South Carolina is 19th in AP and 20th in USA Today. The SEC has had at least six teams ranked in both polls every week this season.

* - After five weeks and 36 home dates, SEC football games have a total attendance of 2,790,310 for an average of 77,509 fans per game. The total equates to a 97.69 percent of capacity and includes 17 sellouts.

* - The two winningest programs of both the last five and 10 seasons face off this weekend in Gainesville. Florida has the SEC’s best record since 2006 at 52-8 (.867) while LSU has the league’s best mark since 2001 at 96-27 (.780). LSU is second in the league since 2006 at 45-13 (.776) while Florida is second in the SEC since 2001 at 94-28 (.770).

* - Two of the top six coaches in SEC vs. SEC winning percentage go head-to-head on Saturday as South Carolina hosts Alabama. The Tide’s Nick Saban is 53-17 in SEC vs. SEC games for a 75.7 winning mark, which is fifth in league history. South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier is 106-37 in SEC vs. SEC games for a 74.1 winning percentage, which is sixth in league history. Spurrier’s 106 SEC vs. SEC wins is tied for second in league history while Saban’s 53 is 13th in the SEC.

* - Alabama and South Carolina have two of the stingiest redzone defenses in the SEC. The Tide is first in least TDs allowed in the redzone, with just two TDs allowed in 14 chances (14.29 percent). The Gamecocks are second with a 25.00 percent (4-of-16).

* - The Western Division has got an early season edge against the Eastern Division thus far in 2010. In eight games thus far against the two divisions this year, the West is 7-1 against the East.

* - SEC defenses have scored nine touchdowns thus far in 2010. Florida has scored 3, Tennessee 2, while Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Vanderbilt have one each.
