Bought a new bow tonight. I've been shooting the same Hoyt since '97. I shot a BowTec Destroyer 350 and all I can say is OH MY GOD! I shot 54 pounds at 28 inch draw, with a 330 grain shaft. 308 FPS, smooth as silk, no recoil, and silent. This bow is like butter. I can't wait to pick it up Saturday. I bought a dozen flat-line shafts. With broadhead and vanes will go about 300 grains. I am going to shoot 60 pounds, hold 12 pounds at full draw, and shoot around 320 FPS. Sweet!

You mean it's not a Matthews lol? I'm kidding...it's just that people up here where I live won't have anything else. Matthews are good bows but so are Hoyt and High country, and Bow Tech and PSE. I guess it's all preference huh. Congrats on the new bow...sounds like a top shelf outfit.

Matthews makes great bows, no doubt. I shot it, and it had noticeable hand shock, and I just don't like that big grip on the Matthews bow. The Bowtec had no hand shock. The Matthews had some. I had it down to those two and the new PSE. I picked the Bowtec.

I've been putting off buying a new bow for a few years. Now you have me curious. That's a bad thing for my wallet.

Stuck, I have no clue how old your bow is. I bought my Hoyt in '97, and it was their top bow. I killed several deer with it, and thought it was a good bow. I knew technologh had time-warped, but I had no idea how much. You can't imagine the difference. If you buy one, be sure to shoot this Bowtech before deciding. It is un-freaking real. I'm serious. 55 pounds draws like a dream. I hold about 13 at full draw, and I'm shooting 300 FPS-and it is silent. But, not cheap.

Discovery today. 300 FPS and fixed blade broadheads don't mix well. I've been shooting the Pro-Sonic 3 blades for the last 3 years because they shot in the same exact holes as my field points. Well, that was at 255 FPS. At 300, not so much. I will be using mechanicals for the first time. Grim reaper 3-blades shoot the same holes, and had several people tell me about their love of the head. I hope to find out next weekend. Got a couple of shooters on camera, nothing great, but 130 + still in velvet. I found out tonight the guy on the joining farm has 2 pics of a 175+ 10 point. I haven't got him yet, but he's there.

We're in luck. The weather is suppose to cool down for Saturday so that stand vigil may not be too unbearable. Now if my son's baseball games just don't get in the way of my hunting.

Yes, the weather does look much better. I was planning to hunt Saturday morning, but was put on notice today that I may have to hit the office for a bit Saturday morning. Sucks, but that's life. I will hunt Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning if the wind is right. I don't have any pics of anything great, but there is an 8 and 10 that I will have a hard time passing, especially if still in velvet. The 10 will go over 130, and the 8 will go 120+. My neighbor on the next farm got a 175+ on film about 150 yards from me. That will be in the back of mind each time I think about squeezing the trigger. I haven't seen him yet, but he's there, and other's. It's Mammoth Cave-you never know when big boys is going to show. Good luck ol' buddy.
